Blue Stinger

Genre: Action
# of Players: 1
Supported Peripherals: Standard Controller, VMU, Jump Pack
VMU Function: Just an animation of a man shooting a gun while you are playing
Description: Blue Stinger is the only "survival horror" type game out right now for the DC. It is not as action-packed as the Resident Evil series, but does have a fair amount of action. The game does however incorporate constant puzzle solving strategies similar to Resident Evil. Many times in the game, you will be challenged to find a certain object within a given amount of time. While, these puzzles are optional, they are fun and normally offer some kind of reward.
The game has a lot of weapons and a good amount of monsters. One major thing that I like about this game is that it is based on a money system. When you kill stuff, you get money so that you can buy weapons, ammo, health power-ups, etc. This is different and I found it to be a good idea. Also, in this game every bullet is not a life or death situation. I like this, but you may enjoy having to make every bullet count. Take this how you will. This one isn't as good as Code Veronica is going to be, but most DC players should be happy with this one to hold them till the January release of Resident Evil: Code Veronica.

Fun Factor: I was pleased with this game and found it to be pretty entertaining. For all those die-hard shoot-em-up fans though, this one is not non-stop action. It is fun though, at least in my opinion.
Gameplay: The game flows well and has a well-developed plot. One aggravating thing though is that the characters move slowly. There are also some small camera problems. Both of these complaints are minor and do not take away from the gaming experience much. Overall, this game has good gameplay.
Graphics: The graphics on this game are pretty good overall. The monsters look great and so do the backgrounds. One minor complaint is that the people look simian-like and their mouths do not move in check with the words they speak. Other than that, the graphics are better than any other game in this genre for any machine.
Replay Value: This game, like most others in this genre is not the best game to buy if you are looking for excellent replay value. However, it is not boring by any means to beat more than once. Unfortunately, since there is only one play mode, it still lacks in replay value.
Sound: Well, there really isn't much to say about the sound. The voices are good and the sound effects are fine. The music of the game seems to fit, but does not pump you up enough. But still, there are really no major complaints here.
Overall: Overall, this is a pretty good launch title. For all those who have to have an action game for their new machine, you probably want to look into this one. But, if you are not a hard core "survival horror" fan and are only looking for one good one, wait for Code Veronica.

NFL 2K

Genre: Sports
# of Players: 1-4
Supported Peripherals: Standard Controller, VMU, Jump Pack
VMU Function: Can use it to call plays to hide your selection from your friends if you are playing multiplayer
Description: NFL 2K is by the far the most fun sports game I have ever played. Its amazing attention to detail surpasses that of any sports game to date. The announcer has alone over 10,000 comments to say during the games. The graphics on this game are unbelievable. The gameplay is great and there are plenty of play modes, so the replay value on this is excellent. If you are into sports games, you have to buy this one. If you kinda like sports games then I definitely recommend that you buy this one. It will get you into sports games. Also, this game, on top of being fun single player, is a lot of fun multiplayer. This is a must buy if you own a Dreamcast.

Fun Factor: As I said before, this is the most fun sports game I have ever played. I really enjoy playing it and I am not a die hard sports game fan. It is not only a lot of fun single player, but is even more fun multiplayer. If you even remotely enjoy football games, I suggest you get this one. It is definitely a must buy.
Gameplay: NFL 2K has very smooth gameplay and has absolutely no frame problems. There are a good amount of plays...just enough actually, because too many just gets confusing. All of the menus are easy to understand. There are many different play modes such as season, tournament, exhibition game, and many others. Also, with three difficulty levels, this game will be challenging for the least experienced football players to the most experienced. In short, this game has astounding gameplay.
Graphics: As you have probably seen, the graphics in this game are amazing. The players and stadiums look very much like the players and stadiums they were modeled after. The only small complaint about the graphics is that the people on the sidelines look like cardboard cut-outs. This is not a major complaint, though.
Replay Value: This game offers excellent replay value. One reason for this is the many different play modes. Also, you can never master this game because the hardest difficulty is nearly impossible. Finally, due to the fact that this is an excellent multiplayer game, this game probably has the best replay value of any other launch game for the Dreamcast.
Sound: Unlike most games, NFL 2K actually has substantially better sound than most other games in its genre. This is due to the thousands of comments that were recorded for the announcer to say during the game. You are never annoyed by an announcer who constantly repeats himself, which does help to make for an even more different gaming experience each time you play. The rest of the sound is just fine, and there are really no complaints to be said on sound.
Overall: Overall, this is definitely a great football game and if you own a Dreamcast, you should own NFL 2K. It does not lack in any area and Sega has definitely proven to be a major contender in the sports gaming industry.

Ready 2 Rumble

Genre: Fighting
# of Players: 1-2
Supported Peripherals: Standard Controller, Arcade Stick, VMU, Jump Pack
VMU Function: Displays your fighter's stats as you fight. Displays: health, stamina, number of punches swung, and % of punches landed
Description: Ready 2 Rumble is an arcade style boxer in that it focuses more on fun than simulating an actual heavyweight fight. It is a lot of fun one player and even more fun multiplayer. It is a great fighting game with just enough secrets to keep you into it. If you have s Dreamcast and other looking for a fighter other than Soul Calibur, make this one your choice.
Fun Factor: 8.5 |

Overall : 8.5 |
Fun Factor: Ready 2 Rumble is more of a fun, arcade style boxing game than a boxing simulator. I like this because you can just sit down and have fun with it without taking it too seriously. Championship mode is a lot of fun. In this mode you train your boxer and fight all of the fights to get him/her up to championship class. This game is also a lot of fun two player. If you both have the game, you can use your saved boxers and duke it out.
Gameplay: Ready 2 Rumble has pretty good gameplay. The controls are very good and there do not seem to be any glitches in the gameplay. The game is kind of hard though, even on easy. It takes a little while to get used to the difficulty. There are a good amount of fighters and some secret ones to unlock. More play modes would not hurt though.
Graphics: The graphics on this game pretty impressive. Even the little the things make the game more fun, such as the fat guys bellies jiggling all over the place when they fall. Many of the elements in the graphics are humorous. The exaggerated reactions of the fighters to the punches really make the graphics in this game enhance the gameplay. Also, gameplay was not thrown out the window for good graphics in this game.
Replay Value: Unfortunately, this game does not have enough play modes to offer excellent replay value. It only offers two modes: arcade and championship. It is still fun to beat numerous times, but it could be better. However, the multiplayer game is always fun and never gets boring. All things considered, this has good, but not excellent, replay value.
Sound: The sound is pretty good, with only one problem. On many of the Ready 2 Rumble discs the intro song skips. The music during gameplay does not skip though, and the skipping intro song is not that big of a deal. If it bothers you, Midway is willing to send you another disc. The sound effects are fine and the voices are great. The animations that the fighter do before and after the fights are pretty funny, once again proving that this game was meant for humor. The sound is really good on this game other than the one glitch.
Overall: This is a pretty good game, overall. It is a lot of fun single and multiplayer. The graphics are great and the sound is pretty good. More play modes would be nice, but the replay value is still good. If you have a Dreamcast, you should have Ready 2 Rumble.
